Retreat Project

As always you don't have to take part and you are welcome to work on your own projects.

Please note: There will be projects available for beginners, so if your new or just starting out, don't worry you will be fine.

Everyone will receive a copy of this pattern in your welcome pack.

A-maze

72 x 96 inches

This quilt could be made bigger if required by adding a border.

This quilt was due to be photographed for a flat shot on Sunday to add into this post, hence the delay. Weather permitting, ill change the image, but at the moment its just to windy (as it needs to be photographed outside)

This quilt could be made from any colour scheme and would also work well with scrappy with a bit of planning-

The requirements are as follows:

4 metres of background fabric

20 inches each of the following colours.

Lime green, Mid Blue, Teal, Pink, Fuchsia, Yellow, Orange, Purple.

Or any 8 colours of your choosing.

You will need to add on an extra border if required. There will be enough fabric left over for a multi coloured binding.

I also have a pattern if anyone is interested in a scrap quilt, please let me know if you would like a copy. I will be bringing some copied, but as there are a lot of pages in the pattern we will only print what we need. I can send you the requirement list if you get in touch.

What else do you need to bring:

  • Yourself !
  • Sewing machine
  • Sewing kit
  • Board, cutter, ruler
  • Extension lead
  • Fleece or warm jumper ( this is very important as sometimes we open the door to let a bit of air circulate)
  • Sewing projects ( bring a few so you can change around)
  • Glasses
  • Medication
  • One or two items of show and tell ( if you have some of course)
  • If you are bringing a light, it must be LED
  • Headphones for listening to music - this is necessary as it has been brought to our attention that some people have sensory auditory issues.
  • Your scrap challenge quilt from last year if you have it finished.
  • Comfy clothes
  • A waterproof coat as its lovely to get out for a walk.

Sorry NO IRONS

The sewing room will be open from around 8 am until 11- 11.30 pm. There will be a teacher available from after breakfast, so between 9.30 and 10 am -  until we go for dinner at 5.30 pm. Any sewing you wish to do after that will be unassisted, but don't worry- you can find out what to do during the day and sew till bedtime if you so wish.

 Challenge (Same as last year)

(Only available to people who arrive on the first day of each retreat, unless you can give us the bag of fabric in advance)

This year there is a challenge- we ask anyone who would like to take part to put 500 gm ( just over 1 lb)  of fabric into a clear plastic bag with your name on. There needs to be a good mix of fabric. Fat quarters or similar would be ideal. if you have smaller pieces that's ok, but no smaller than  8 x 8 inches ( that's just a guide, could be 7 x 10 etc ) you can put in fabrics from left over projects or fabrics your not sure what to do with. Be thoughtful as you will be getting back other peoples fabrics. The fabrics do not need to match, but they need to be fabrics you like.

This is how it works.

Once we receive everyone's fabrics we will mix them all up and put into colour groups. You will receive your bag back with a mixture of fabrics ready to make a project. You can start at the retreat or take it home and bring it back for next year to show and tell.

Don't forget to get in touch if you want to make something else, need supplies or need help with colours. The shop will be packed and we will be leaving on the 20th Feb, so extra requests need to be made by then.
