The Sewing Shed

 Happy New Year everyone, I hope you are feeling fresh and entusiastic. The Sewing Shed here  in Keel, Castlemaine has classes beginning in the New year. A great social outlet and rewarding hobby, sewing is an enjoyment -even for the total beginner.

 The new classes for the New year are 10 week classes : Patchwork quilt/throw suitable for beginners and intermediate

 Tuesday 17th January 7.30- 9.30pm  AND  Thursday 19th Jan 10.30am -  12.30pm

Friday morning 10.30 am- 12.30pm sit and sew, drop in without booking and work on a new or exsisting project.

This Saturday 16th July we have a fabulous workshop with Romi Buhles. Here pictured is a Celtic Table runner. Learn how to make your own bias, in whatever colour you choose, and how to perfect a beautiful celtic knot. Dont miss this one off workshop.

 Sometimes interesting things happen that I think the world should know about. One of our girls at the shop Romi, was asked to make these beautiful costumes for these horses . She had great fun choosing the fabrics here at The Sewing Shed in    Co Kerry

 The devil is Carolann O’sullivan and the white angel, is Jacqueline Higgins. They were competing in the Association of Irish Riding Club, The Festival, Fancy Dress Pairs Dressage.The pair looked amazing, the devil with his flames and the angel had quilted wings…of course as a quilter she had to get a little bit in some where.

W ell done to the girls and Romi for a stunning display. Of course they won!!!

 What a great day we had making these clocks. The clock workshop was very productive with everyone finishing the project, ready to take home and hang on the wall.

Here is the Celtic zodiac quilt pictured on the harbour in Dingle. I was very happy to see it featured on the front cover of The Irish Quilting Magazine www.irishquilting.ie  which is now available to buy.

These are the ladies that took my Ugly Bag class at the Lakeland Quilt fair in County Cavan this September. They all nearly finished and enjoyed the day. If anyone is interested in taking this class please let me know.

The summer programme is now out. Click on workshops above to find out whats going on. If you are visiting Ireland this year  and you are nearby then you are more than welcome to join a workshop. We have machines for hire and you can buy all your supplies here at the shop. New fabrics and notions arriving weekly.

Also everyone is welcome to the sit and sew. Every Thursday night from 7.30- 9.30 . there is no need to book. Just turn up with your project.

New this summer  are beginners kits And Irish themed kits. Look out on the products page for more information. Also starting in June we have dress making classes for six weeks.
